We have melamine boards in stock available to buy in any quantity or we can press greater volumes of board to your exact specifications.
Custom finishes, such as digital printing or unusual finishes we don’t carry as stock, can be pressed in our factory with a minimum run of 25 boards.
Should you also need your boards cutting and edging we have a full range of finishing services. We are happy to receive cutting lists as your order and we can calculate how many boards you will need.

Production Melamine
With our own melamine press Bridec is in a unique position offering customers the entire melamine production flow from choice of material, choice of finish, a run on the press, cutting, machining, edging and of course, delivery to site.
Double Sided Two Tone Melamine
Because we press our own Melamine, we are also in the unique position to be able to offer boards with different colours on each face. This is particularly useful if you are making fitted furniture that needs to be one finish on the outside and another finish on the inside.

How Melamine Boards are Made
Melamine boards are pressed under immense pressure and heat to create an impregnable and very stable hard outer layer to manufactured board.
Our melamine press is the first piece of plant Bridec invested in 50 years ago and is one of the oldest working original melamine presses in the United Kingdom.
To this day it delivers exceptional results and has pressed over a million boards during its lifetime.
A sheet of material (2440mm by 1220mm) is placed into the press with a wafer thin sheet of melamine paper carefully positioned on top.
The melamine press uses a combination of pressure and heat to activate the glues in the paper and cure the finish into a very hard and resistant finish.
Melamine boards are always pressed on both sides so once one side is done, we flip the board and press the other.
We also use large metal texture plates to give the melamine finish different textures during pressing. This is often a woodgrain texture but can also be a mottled effect or dimpled.
As a customer you can ask us to press any material we stock in any combination of finishes with any of our texture plates delivering to you exact specification.
Melamine Finishes Available
We carry a wide range of wood effect, metal effect, stone effect and solid colour finishes. Each one has a unique reference code. Please refer to the finishes’ code when emailing us for quotations.

Digital Printing
Digital printing has now come to melamine paper. We can print any artwork, any pattern or any image onto melamine paper and then press that paper onto any material.
For designers this opens up a world of possibilities never before imaginable with furniture design and, because Bridec can offer two-tone melamine board you can have custom designed finishes on one side with a stock finish on the other or custom designed finishes on both sides.

Materials We Press
We stock MFC, MDF, Chipboard, Plywood, Flame Retardant and Moisture Resistant boards. All of our boards are 2440mm long and 1220mm wide (8ft by 4ft).

Cutting, Machining and Edging
Using our state of the art saw and CNC milling machines we can accommodate a wide variety of cutting requirements. From a basic square edge cuts to vector paths we can cut just about any shape you can imagine.
Our machines also drill boards ready for doweling and other metal inserts commonly used in furniture manufacture.
Once your boards are cut to your specification we also have a range of edging options including PU rated waterproof edging. See the cutting and edging pages for more information.
